What's New at the ACC

April 5, 2024

President's Message

Check out Don’s final President’s Message of the season “From the Hack” on the club’s website.   Don reviews the year and talks about some of the work done by club members.  He also talks about changes to our governance that we’ll be introducing at the Annual Meeting.

Volunteer

Thanks to everyone who’s volunteered at the club this season – you make our club the great place it is!

  • If you've done volunteer work at the Club but haven't received your refund, make sure to:
    • visit MEMBERS HOME > My Volunteer Interests to register your contribution
    • go to “Other” at the bottom of the page and include a brief description if you don’t see the specific work you’ve done
    • contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Sandra Power, at volunteer@almontecurling.ca.
  • Once you have your refund cheque, make sure to cash it so our treasurer can close the books!

Bonspiels

  • If you have questions about bonspiels, you can contact our Bonspiel Coordinator, Deb Taymun, at bonspiels@almontecurling.ca.
  • Have fun at the closing funspiel on April 6!

U18

  • Congratulations to our Little Rocks team of Abram, Mallory, Margot and Lauren who played in the OVCA Little Rocks Championship in Pembroke on March 31!   Team Murphy of Almonte won their first two games and made it to the championship game only to miss by one point to Manotick (5-4). We are all very proud of you.

Club

  • Thanks to everyone who completed the league survey – your insight will help us offer leagues that meet members’ needs.
  • Mark your calendars! The ACC Annual Meeting will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the curling lounge.  The agenda will be sent closer to the date, but this is your opportunity to learn about how the club is managed.
  • Please visit the Constitution and Policies page under Our Club on the Members Home site to review the backgrounder document and updated by-laws that members will vote on at the Annual Meeting.

About The Club

Curling has been an integral part of the lives of the residents of the Mississippi Mills area for over 150 years. The Almonte Curling Club was established in 1855, and is the eighth oldest curling club in North America.
